WASHINGTON — Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) issued the following statement as unlawful encampments on college campuses continue to disrupt learning and endanger students:

“Illegal actions must have consequences. It’s that simple. Parents teach their toddlers this very basic notion—if you do something wrong there will be repercussions. So it boggles my mind that university leaders are failing to grasp this concept. 

“Kowtowing to these radicals, who harass and threaten Jewish students, denying them the right to a safe learning environment, is wrong. 

“We are the greatest nation on the earth, in part, because we believe in the rule of law. So when a school like Barnard gives rule-breaking students amnesty it contributes to the degradation of our civil society.  

“The inmates are truly running the asylum.”
