WASHINGTON – Today, Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) issued the following statement on the Department of Labor’s (DOL) final Walkaround Rule, which would give unions and left-wing activists who are not employees of the employer access to worksites during Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections:
 
"This rule has absolutely nothing to do with keeping workers safe. Rather it weaponizes OSHA inspections—harming workers’ safety while also increasing employers’ costs. This isn’t surprising given this administration’s zeal for regulatory overreach. 
 
"What’s worse, under this rule unionizing efforts and other activist campaigns are put ahead of safety efforts. So much for OSHA’s vital mission of protecting the health and safety of the nation’s workers. It appears the Biden administration’s only concern is propping up Big Labor’s agenda. Mr. President, workers and job creators hear your message loud and clear."

August 29, 2023: Chairwoman Foxx released a statement in response to OSHA’s proposed Walkaround Rule. 

September 27, 2023: OSHA Assistant Secretary Douglas L. Parker testified before the Subcommittee on Workforce Protections during a hearing titled “Examining the Policies and Priorities of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.”

November 13, 2023: Chairwoman Foxx submitted a comment letter to Acting Secretary Su urging the Department to withdraw OSHA’s Walkaround Rule.
 
February 12, 2024: Chairwoman Foxx sent a letter to Acting Secretary Su raising concerns over the Department’s inability to justify its proposed Walkaround Rule with sound data.
