Today, Republican Leader of the Committee on Education and Labor, Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), issued the following statement after President Trump announced a proclamation restricting visas for certain students and researchers from the communist People’s Republic of China:
“China is stealing American intellectual property and national security research. These brazen efforts can have a serious and debilitating effect on U.S. interests. President Trump’s proclamation is a solid first step to address this growing and dangerous problem. I look forward to working with my colleagues on the Education and Labor Committee to hold the Chinese Communist Party accountable.”
NOTE: Earlier this month, Rep. Virginia Foxx joined top Republicans from six House committees to urge Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos to investigate the Chinese Communist Party's investment in American colleges and universities to further its strategic and propaganda goals.
