Foxx, Steel on Addressing the Nation’s Infant Formula Shortage

Today, Education and Labor Committee Republican Leader Virginia Foxx (R-NC) released the following statement in support of H.R. 7791, the bipartisan Access to Baby Formula Act, which was introduced by Rep. Michelle Steel (R-CA) and will help prevent future devastating shortages:

“Due to the Biden administration’s negligence, mothers across the country have been plagued with fear and anxiety about whether they will be able to feed their babies. As early as last year, the Food and Drug Administration knew of the impending baby formula shortage and did nothing to address it,” said Republican Leader Foxx. “This catastrophe should have never happened, but I am pleased to see that Congressional Republicans and Democrats have come together to address this pressing issue through the Access to Baby Formula Act.”

“As a parent there’s nothing more important than ensuring the health and safety of your child. Families desperate to feed their babies shouldn’t have to face empty shelves because of government mismanagement and overregulation,” said Rep. Steel. “This bipartisan legislation will provide certainty for recipients and manufacturers, ensuring this crisis doesn’t happen again.”
