Today, Education and Labor Committee Republican Leader Virginia Foxx (R-NC) issued the following statement on the Department of Education’s latest push to extend student loan forgiveness through income-driven repayment programs:
“A program that was the brainchild of, and expanded by, Democrats, turned out to be a complete disaster and taxpayers are forced to foot the bill for these mistakes. Color me shocked. In a certainly predictable trend, the Department of Education has blamed everyone except itself for its ineptitude. It is shameful this administration keeps putting politics above the interests of the American people.
“Instead of managing its contractors and issuing clear guidance to its partners, the Department continues to use servicers as a punching bag and COVID-19 as an excuse to push its left-wing agenda and bankrupt the country.”
