Equality under the law is one of our nation’s most fundamental principles. That is not what this bill is about. This bill is about forcing Americans to act against their sincerely held beliefs or face punishment.
The Equality Act would force female athletes to compete against biologically male athletes who identify as female, which would threaten women’s safety and decimate women’s sports.
If this bill becomes law, a doctor who refuses to perform a sex reassignment surgery on a child could lose his or her license, a nurse who refuses to assist in an abortion could be fired, and women seeking shelter at a domestic violence center could find themselves having to share a room with a biological male.
