Our nation is in crisis, yet President Biden touted multiple radical bills during his State of the Union address that would double down on the failed economic policies that are hurting America’s workers, job creators, and students. Put together, the bills President Biden called out within the Education and Labor Committee’s jurisdiction would decimate our economy, obliterate the rights of workers, socialize health care, and level a full-fledged attack on religious freedom.
Biden: “Let’s pass the Paycheck Fairness Act...”
The Truth: Equal pay for equal work has been the law of the land since 1963.
The Paycheck Fairness Act provides no new protections for working women.
The bill makes it easier for trial lawyers to score unlimited paydays while dragging working women through never-ending legal proceedings.
Biden: “Raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour...”
The Truth: Raising the minimum wage will destroy many small businesses and cost millions of jobs.
The Biden administration’s punishing, one-size-fits-all wage hike could cost 2.7 million jobs, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.
Biden’s $15 federal minimum wage would force many businesses to choose between laying off employees, going out of business, cutting employee hours, or raising prices.
Biden: “And let’s pass the PRO Act when a majority of workers want to form a union—they shouldn’t be stopped.”
The Truth: The PRO Union Bosses Act allows Big Labor to consolidate power, coerce workers, line their own pockets, and bolster their own political agendas. It will undermine workers' rights and destroy jobs.
The PRO Union Bosses Act would outlaw right-to-work laws in 27 states, forcing workers into unions they have no interest in joining.
This radical legislation would take money out of the pockets of American workers to fund Democrats’ political campaigns.
If it becomes law, the PRO Union Bosses Act would destroy gig economy jobs that many Americans rely on.
The PRO Union Bosses Act would undermine workers’ right to vote by secret ballot, making union elections more susceptible to corruption, intimidation, and coercion.
Biden: “[C]ut the cost of prescription drugs…”
The Truth: Democrats radical drug-pricing scheme is a step toward socialized medicine and will cost American lives.
H.R. 3 is a power grab by the federal government that will substantially increase America’s reliance on China, decrease competition, and result in fewer treatments and cures.
Letting bureaucrats in Washington dictate the price of drugs is a step toward nationalizing the pharmaceutical industry and opening the door to a one-size-fits-all, government-controlled rationing of prescription drugs.
Republicans have real, bipartisan solutions to reduce drug costs in the Lower Costs, More Cures Act. This bill could pass the House today and give millions of Americans relief from high drug prices if Democrats would stop standing in the way of real, bipartisan drug-pricing reform.
Biden: “And for our LGBTQ+ Americans, let’s finally get the bipartisan Equality Act to my desk. The onslaught of state laws targeting transgender Americans and their families is wrong.”
The Truth: The Equality Act is an assault on religious freedom. This bill isn’t about equality or tolerance, it’s about forcing Americans to violate their consciences.
Equality under the law is one of our nation’s most fundamental principles. That is not what this bill is about. This bill is about forcing Americans to act against their sincerely held beliefs or face punishment.
The Equality Act would force female athletes to compete against biologically male athletes who identify as female, which would threaten women’s safety and decimate women’s sports.
If this bill becomes law, a doctor who refuses to perform a sex reassignment surgery on a child could lose his or her license, a nurse who refuses to assist in an abortion could be fired, and women seeking shelter at a domestic violence center could find themselves having to share a room with a biological male.
This bill guts the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993—our country’s flagship law in defense of individual religious freedom.
