Foxx Calls Out Democrats for Postponing Workers’ Safety Hearing

Today, Republican Leader of the Education and Labor Committee Virginia Foxx (R-NC) issued the following statement after Committee Democrats postponed this week’s scheduled subcommittee hearing to examine the status of mandating an unnecessary one-size-fits-all ‘emergency’ Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulation on COVID-19 in all workplaces:

“Apparently, the postponement of Friday’s hearing signals that Democrats are worried their own administration will help make the case that current scientific and economic data proves that a rushed and rigid so-called ‘emergency’ COVID-19 OSHA regulation is not necessary.

“COVID-19 cases continue to trend in the right direction, nearly 97 million Americans are fully vaccinated, and states have relaxed restrictions on non-essential businesses and taken measures to reopen their economies. Yet, Democrats claim we now need to mandate a rigid OSHA emergency regulation.

“Democrats seem eager to ignore these facts and current science in order to appease their Big Labor and trial lawyer friends.

“I look forward to this hearing being rescheduled so we can learn more about the current scientific and economic realities related to a COVID-19 OSHA regulation and the Biden administration’s views on this misguided proposal.”
