WASHINGTON, D.C. | June 26, 2020
Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), Republican Leader of the Committee on Education and Labor, released the following statement after House Democrats failed to overturn President Trump’s veto of H.J. Res 76:
“Unfortunately, Democrats will stop at nothing to try to tear down meaningful reforms ushered in under President Trump’s leadership, even if it comes at the expense of our nation’s students.
“Democrat prioritization of political games over policy and progress was on full display today. Although today’s floor proceedings are disappointing and representative of the Democrat majority, there is a silver lining.
“The Trump administration’s borrower defense rule – which ensures that all students are protected, including our student veterans, saves taxpayers billions, and holds all institutions accountable – will take effect in July.”
