Education and Labor Committee Republicans Slam Democrats for Neglecting Legislative Solutions for Partisan Impeachment

Today, Republican Members on the Education and Labor Committee sent a letter to Chairman Scott condemning Committee Democrats’ prioritization of the partisan impeachment of President Trump over important Committee legislative solutions. Specifically, the letter slams Committee Democrats for ignoring important work to address our nation’s skills gap, which has led to 7 million unfilled positions throughout the country; surprise medical bills, which is the leading health care concern for Americans; and rampant United Automobile Workers (UAW) union corruption, which has led to the outrageous abuse of workers’ trust and hard-earned union dues.

In the letter, Education and Labor Committee Republicans write: “We write to express our concern over important Committee on Education and Labor priorities that hang in the balance as Democrats continue to preoccupy themselves with the partisan impeachment of President Trump. Committee Democrats are sidelining important issues and legislative solutions that would address our nation’s skills gap, surprise medical bills, and the rampant corruption within the United Automobile Workers (UAW) union, all at the expense of hardworking Americans.” The letter concludes: “Action is long overdue on these issues. Rather than focus on the partisan impeachment proceedings against President Trump, it is time Democrats reevaluate their priorities and start doing the job American families elected them to do.”
