Foxx, Walberg Respond to President’s Health Care Executive Order

Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) and Rep. Tim Walberg (R-MI) issued the following joint statement after President Trump signed an executive order to help expand affordable health care options for small businesses and their employees.

Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), chairwoman of the Committee on Education and the Workforce, and Rep. Tim Walberg (R-MI), chairman of the Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions, issued the following joint statement after President Trump signed an executive order to help expand affordable health care options for small businesses and their employees:

“America’s small businesses and the millions of workers they employ are in desperate need of more affordable health care options. That’s why, earlier this year, the committee approved and the House passed the Small Business Health Fairness Act to empower small employers to band together through association health plans. We’re pleased to see President Trump's leadership on this important effort, and we look forward to working alongside the administration to make association health plans a reality for small business employees across the country.”

BACKGROUND: In March 2017, the House passed the Small Business Health Fairness Act (H.R. 1101), which was introduced by Rep. Sam Johnson (R-TX) and Rep. Tim Walberg (R-MI). The legislation, which is awaiting action in the Senate, would empower small businesses to join together through association health plans (AHPs) to offer health insurance for their employees at a lower cost. To learn more, click here.
