***MEDIA ADVISORY*** THIS WEEK: Hearings to Examine Regulatory and Enforcement Policies at EEOC, the Need for Improved Transparency in Higher Education

This week, members of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce will participate in hearings examining the policies of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), as well as federal requirements intended to promote transparency in higher education. Both hearings will take place in room 2175 of the Rayburn House Office Building.
  • On Tuesday, May 23 at 10:00 a.m., the Subcommittee on Workforce Protections, chaired by Rep. Bradley Byrne (R-AL), will hold a hearing entitled, “The Need for More Responsible Regulatory and Enforcement Policies at the EEOC.” Part of the committee’s ongoing oversight of the EEOC, the hearing will provide members an opportunity to review regulatory and enforcement actions the EEOC has taken in recent years, such as changes to the EEO-1 report the agency adopted in 2016.
  • On Wednesday, May 24 at 10:30 a.m., the Subcommittee on Higher Education and Workforce Development, chaired by Rep. Brett Guthrie (R-KY), will hold a hearing entitled, “Empowering Students and Families to Make Informed Decisions on Higher Education.” Members will discuss opportunities for improving transparency in higher education, as well as ensuring federal student aid programs are effective and student privacy is protected. This hearing is part of an ongoing effort to strengthen federal higher education policies to better serve students, families, and taxpayers.
