The House Committee on Education and the Workforce will hold hearings this week to discuss a number of important issues facing America’s workers, job creators, and vulnerable youth. The hearings will take place in room 2175 of the Rayburn House Office Building.
  • On Tuesday, February 14 at 10:00 a.m., the Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions, chaired by Rep. Tim Walberg (R-MI), will hold a hearing entitled, “Restoring Balance and Fairness to the National Labor Relations Board.” In recent years, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has taken a number of troubling actions that undermine the rights of workers and employers, including advancing an ambush election rule and expanding its joint employer standard. Members will discuss the need to roll back harmful NLRB decisions and restore balance and fairness to federal labor law.

  • On Wednesday, February 15 at 10:00 a.m., the Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education, chaired by Rep. Todd Rokita (R-IN), will hold a hearing entitled, “Providing Vulnerable Youth the Hope of a Brighter Future Through Juvenile Justice Reform.” Members will discuss federal, state, and local efforts to serve at-risk youth and juvenile offenders, as well as explore ways to strengthen the juvenile justice system and help put more vulnerable youth on a better path.

  • On Thursday, February 16 at 10:00 a.m., the Subcommittee on Workforce Protections, chaired by Rep. Bradley Byrne (R-AL), will hold a hearing entitled, “Federal Wage and Hour Policies in the Twenty-First Century Economy.” Members will review federal policies under the Fair Labor Standards Act and how they apply to the unique needs of today’s workforce. Members will also discuss regulatory changes to federal wage and hour standards advanced by the Obama administration and the need for pro-growth solutions that benefit working families and small businesses.
