Foxx Applauds Secretary DeVos Rule Ensuring Equitable CARES Act Funding

Republican Leader of the Committee on Education and Labor, Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), issued the following statement today after Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos issued a new rule to ensure students whose learning was impacted by COVID-19, whether public or private, are served fairly by emergency funding authorized in the CARES Act:

“I applaud Secretary DeVos and the Education Department for issuing today’s new rule which will ensure students and educators are served equitably by the emergency funding provided in the CARES Act. This bipartisan legislation was intended to provide much-needed relief to all students impacted by the devastating effects of COVID-19, no matter what school they attend, and I was proud to support the bill in the House. Secretary DeVos’ new rule will help ensure all students benefit and it is welcomed news for families who fear that some students may be falling behind due to COVID-19. I thank Secretary DeVos and the Trump administration for their leadership as we continue to combat this global health pandemic together.”
