House Reaffirms Commitment to Older Americans, Passes Supporting Older Americans Act of 2020

The House of Representatives today passed by unanimous consent the Supporting Older Americans Act of 2020 (H.R. 4334), bipartisan legislation that helps provide social and nutrition services to older Americans. The legislation now heads to the President’s desk to be signed into law.

“As we continue to monitor the widespread coronavirus that is putting aging Americans at risk, today’s passage of the Supporting Older Americans Act of 2020 reflects Congress’ unwavering commitment to our nation’s seniors and empowers older Americans to age with health, dignity, and independence in the communities of their choosing,” said Republican Leader of the Education and Labor Committee, Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC). “Today’s bill will reauthorize the Older Americans Act, which has helped provide social and nutrition services to older Americans for more than 50 years. Its reauthorization means that well-known programs like Meals-on-Wheels and many others will continue to deliver invaluable support to those in need. I thank my colleagues on the Education and Labor Committee, especially Reps. Stefanik, Comer, and Johnson, for their efforts to pass H.R. 4334, which will help ensure older Americans continue leading high-quality lives.”
